My name is Lance Corporal Vanessa [INAUDIBLE].
And I'm an operator supply.
An operator supply is a person that supplies the rest of the
Army with whatever needs that they have.
Whether it's food, fuel, weapons, ammunition,
explosives, we get it to them wherever they are.
We basically ship and move tonnes of stores and equipment
around Australia And overseas.
I've never seen anything like it.
When it comes to being in the Army, you've got lots of
different opportunities to do lots of courses.
I've got my forklift licence.
I have a warehousing operator licence.
I've also got a medium rigid vehicle licence and a
[INAUDIBLE]
licence.
The further up you go, the more
qualifications that you get.
So you can get managerial roles as well.
Meeting the tonnes of people that I've met, I've lived in
different parts of Australia.
I've travelled to different parts of the world.
And I've seen and done some things that none of my friends
or family will ever get the opportunity to do.
Overseas, I worked with a great team.
You're away from your friends.
And you're away from your family.
And it was actually that team that I worked with that made
it so good.
I haven't laughed so much in my life.
And it's really hard to get across some of
the things that happened.
But it was just every day, everyone was silly, everyone
was joking around at the same time with
getting their work done.
And that's a great aspect.
I'm part of the largest logistics
organisation within Australia.
And you get a great sense of pride and satisfaction at the
end of the day, knowing the difference that you've made
within the Australian Army.
It's a very important role.
If there's no supply, basically nothing would get
done, and there would be no Army.
You wouldn't be able to go on deployments.
You wouldn't be able to go on exercises.
When you wear your uniform, especially for ANZAC Day, you
get a feeling of pride that I really haven't experienced
with any other job.
