Hi, my name's Elissa with Expert Village and today I'm going to show you how to crochet
a beanie. So now that your'e getting closer to the finish of your beanie, you're gonna
need to figure out what size you want to make it. It's always a good idea to keep trying
on your beanie as your'e making it, to make sure it fits. This one is turning out to be
a fitted beanie. It's gonna fit directly over your head and the length is going to depend
on the size of your head. But keep trying it on as you go. If you want more of an oversized
beanie, you can make it a little bit big, and when you do one of these your'e gonna
want to taper the ends down a little bit, so it fits around your head and then has some
bulk here. So this is what this one looks like. This is on oversized beanie, and it's
gonna have a little bit of extra crochet up here but it's gonna fit snuggly around the
crown. So make sure you subtract a few stitches as you get down to the bottom of an oversized
beanie to make sure it doesn't fall off. Another way that you go, is to make an extra long
beanie so that you have room for a cuff. And all you have to do here is make it the size
that you need, the width that you need, but just continue on a good three extra inches,
so that you have room to cuff up the beanie and make it have a nice little cuff on there.
Another tip is that you always want to make the beanie a little bit smaller than you think
it needs to be because of the nature of the stitches, they're always going to stretch.
So those are some tips on how to make the beanie the right size for you.
