Well, the first thing I will say that if you have symptoms, you are probably fairly late
in the disease. Symptoms don't usually occur until a cancer is fairly advanced, but if
you do get to that point, the symptoms usually are, you see blood in your stool, you will
have unexplained weight loss or you are not really trying to lose weight, but you are
losing weight anyway, sort of vague symptoms sometimes like abdominal pain or cramps, nausea,
bloating, and sometimes people will get what we call narrowing of the stools or pencil
stools. So when you will have a bowel movement, it comes out as really skinny. So certainly,
if you see any of those symptoms, you should contact your primary care physician to get
evaluated. The trick with any cancer screening test is to sort of know your body, so if you
have symptoms that seem out of the ordinary to you, you should definitely see your primary
care physician.
