Hi this is Stephanie Manley with copykat.com. I personally love chicken
nuggets, but you know what? I find them a little scary from some of the
restaurants because they have ingredients in there and have weird textures.
I just really would like to enjoy chicken nuggets without having to get
them from a fast food restaurant. So I'm going to show you how to make
some fantastic chicken nuggets from scratch.
So let me tell you what I have in here. I have chicken breast. Look at
this. This is whole pieces of meat here. It's very good. I have some
flour here. I'm going to season it with a little bit of salt and some
fresh cracked pepper. I've got about a cup and a half of flour. I've got
a teaspoon of salt. I've got a half teaspoon of black pepper. I'm just
going to stir this together. This will give me a nice bit of seasoning.
Then I have a cup and a half of milk and an egg right here. This is what
we're going to use to bread this. I'm just going to take this egg and
whisk it right in and then I have some panko bread crumbs. These are
wonderful bread crumbs. You can buy these from the specialty Asian portion
of the store. They're really great. Often they're really just sold with
regular bread crumbs. When working with raw poultry, and this is very
important, you must wash your hands before and after you touch raw poultry.
You don't want to cross contaminate anything with raw poultry. So be sure
to wash your hands after you finish chopping the chicken.
So I'm going to take my chicken right here and I'm going to cut it into
large pieces or large bite sized pieces. You don't have to do them in any
special shape. First thing I'm going to do is I'm going to just drop the
chicken into the flour. I'm going to shake off the extra and then put it
in my milk mixture. Then I'm going to drop this into my panko coating
right here. If you don't have panko bread crumbs, you could just do this
again in the seasoned flour mixture. It will be just fine either way.
When these are coated, I'm going to stick them on my drying rack and we
will cook these up in just a few minutes.
Alright, so after you've washed your hands then you can go ahead and cook
the chicken nuggets. I have about a half of an inch of oil in a large
skillet. I have it on a fairly high temperature. I'm aiming for 350
degrees. I'm going to fry a few of these nuggets at a time. I will have
to flip them over because the grease doesn't cover them up all the way and
as soon as they're done, we can enjoy some nice homemade chicken nuggets.
