At the Tokyo International Gift Show, Datel Japan displayed a Health Control Game Timer for the Nintendo DS Lite.
This is our new product, the DS Health Control Game Timer. When you insert this card into the main unit of
the Nintendo DS Lite, it acts like a timer. Basically, you set the amount of play time that you want to allow,
and once the player has reached that amount of preset play time, the power to the game system is
automatically cut off and the system is shut down. This device here was developed for the purpose of
preventing children from playing games for too long. When children play games for too long, their eyes
begin to get sore, so this device was designed to prevent that from happening. As another function,
it's also equipped with a sensor that can detect the distance between the child's face and the screen,
and when the screen is brought too close to the child's face, a lamp turns on. When your face is too
close to the screen, it can be harmful to your eyes, so this device also prevents children from getting too
close to the screen. Essentially it has two functions designed to protect the eyes of children.
The Health Control Game Timer is securely attached to the DS Lite so that it cannot be easily removed if the user wants to play longer than the allotted time limit, and is available now in Japan for \3,990.
