Accountants are really diverse people, I think we have the biggest stereotype in business,
we actually don't sit in small rooms, you might have to sometimes and we don't only
do tax we actually do everything. We're involved in every business in Australia and that fact
is with accounting we have a broad range of clients we can work on so we're not siloed
into the one profession, the one job, you can bounce between industry because the same
accounting principles apply at a BHP as they do at a bank. I mean there might be some difference
but you can educate yourself and get your head around it so I think it's the diversity
in the profession and that chances you get, you get to travel a lot because it's kind
of a global thing, or they're moving towards globalisation. I chose to study at RMIT because
it was in the city which was very convenient, the second reason which is not really a reason
but I enjoyed the buildings, very quirky buildings so you can never miss an RMIT building. I
really like the new Swanston Academic Building I think it's one of those building that really
makes RMIT stand out now, this new building is just amazing, the technology that we have,
because there's often situations and times when you'll be like "should I come in?" and
you think this new building is amazing, I can actually get stuff done, there's enough
private study areas and it just really encourages you to come in. In five years' time I see
myself in a more managerial position, coaching and guiding some of the younger accountants
who hopefully are from RMIT. Being someone who has had a really rounded experience in
life, who has been really fortunate, I am going to try and continue my success and make
others successful and help them achieve their goals.
