Both the US and UK are top three for the worst social mobility in the developed world,
which means we have a stronger correlation between parents wealth and child's future
wealth than any other developed countries.
A lot of it is down to that transition from education into the world of work and how people
make that transition.
What support they get, what level of aspiration they have, and a lot of that comes down to networks.
Elite schools and private schools and universities have been amazing at staying in touch with former students
and getting them involved in the school institution and helping current students,
but public high schools have never done it.
The goals are to turn every school into a community.
A lot of times we get people and when we ask them do you want to help out at their old
school, they say "no way, what did that school do for me."
And you ask them do you want to come out helping young people currently at your old school
and they immediately say yes.
Every public high school creates incredible role models.
They all don't have to go to universities or the top universities or professional jobs.
It is about who finds fulfillment in the place work,
who does something that uses their skills or passions.
And every high school creates those kinds of successful role models.
The amount of jobs that go unadvertised, the amount of jobs where people go in
and they've known someone there beforehand either in that position or in that organization
is vast, vast numbers.
The best thing we can do is equalize that a little bit.
By making sure that every young people has access to an incredible network rather than
a privileged few.
