Hi! You're watching Russ Cam! Alright!
[LAUGHTER] Here we go!
You've still got those gorilla classes? That was your trademark for a while.
They just ran one last week down in LA. Oh yeah? What was the topic?
So the gorilla - Windows 8. Oh, you're kidding me! You're already doing
Windows 8? It's been out for 2 weeks, man. It's old hat!
Wow! That's great! That's great! So how did the Windows 8 class go? What was
the feedback? People are loving it.
Yeah? Yeah. It's weird because, you know, nobody
really has the touch yet. But the interface is really nice. Windows 8 from a "you are
using a mouse and keyboard" perspective really works well.
This is the best and biggest code camp in the world.
This is incredible. I mean, I think everyone who's willing to
come here on a weekend to improve their job, I think that really signifies a lot of love.
I know! I know! I mean, look at this day. It's freakin' gorgeous out here, yet people
are over here at the code camp, you know, volunteering their time. And then also people
are soaking it all up and making their lives better, really.
Yeah. These are people who love what they do and want to do it better. One of the things
I see is a lot of times when I go to the worst companies, none of them go out to the code
camps. The average person at a code camp is just a nice level above the average person
who doesn't get out. So, yeah, developers can be social.
Yeah! Amazing! [LAUGHTER]
I'm the cofounder of Cloud Camp. We've organized about 250 Cloud Camps around the world in
about 90 cities and about 30-40,000 people. So, do you see cloud computing really taking
off now. I mean, I know it has kind of a slow start, but do you think it's really starting
to take hold? Well, when a technology impacts virtually
everybody and it takes off slowly, but two or three percent of the entire world are using
it, you know, that's a lot of people. So I don't actually think it started slowly.
Yeah. I just think when a technology is going to
basically reogranize how we use computing for the entire world, it's going to take 10
years for that to happen. You don't do that overnight. If you want to build your application
on the platform that we will have for the next ten years?
Yeah? You should look at platform as a surface software,
which is platform as a surface software you can install on any cloud computing host. Therfore,
when you build your application on top of it, you can move your application to any cloud
computing vendor and you can even bring it in house and run it on your own private cloud
without having to rewrite your application. All of the user groups in Florida from both

Uh oh. You're binging the house down as usual there, Blain!
[LAUGHTER] This episode of Russ Cam is brought to you
by ActiveReports from GrapeCity PowerTools. Surfing the web? Yeah, have you ever tried
to surf the web over your phone? It's a little small. Especially when you're looking at a
big list like the new feature list for ActiveReports 6. Oh yeah. We've been using it for fifteen
years. The coolest new feature is the new Silverlight report viewer. What's cool about
it, of course, it's both native Silverlight for printing, but it's also got PDF support.
So, that really minimizes the amount of data that has to come over the wire. ActiveReports

I actually did 2 sessions on PowerShell. Nice!
So, that was a lot of fun. One of them was "Solving Everyday Problems with PowerShell,"
and the other one was "Integrating Facebook with PowerShell."
What's your slogan, "I can do anything in PowerShell?" Is that it?
Actually it's "Will script for food." Now, if there was a t-shirt award, I think
we would give it to you today. Well, thank you!
I just love that! Procrastinators: leaders of tomorrow! That's it!
I'm here at the IT Camp Saturday here at Nova University. Great turnout, by the way! We
had about 165 people. Yeah.
I am the founder of the IT Camp Saturday. This is another great example of something
that was your idea, actually, and you got folks involved and they took it from there,
right? I mean, that's really what it's all about with the community. So, thanks a lot!
Appreciate it! Thanks for having me. Okay.
[LAUGHTER] Thanks Blain!
