The Francis Marion National Forest is embarking on an exciting journey
to revise it's Forest Plan and we want you to be involved.
That is why we are using Crowdbrite's web-
based technology to gather your input on planning for the forest's future.
To participate in the process you can follow
the links through the forest service website starting at www.fs.usda.gov/scnfs.
There's also background information to help
you discover the Francis Marion and Sumter National Forest.
You can click the link Francis Marion Plan Revision
in the upper right corner to get important project information, key dates and
background information, as well as access to the public comment site hosted by Crowdbrite.
You can easily submit your comments online by clicking "here", which takes you to the
Crowdbrite planning page.
This is the page that links you to four interactive canvases for you to post your ideas and feedback.
These will also be on display at key meetings and online from now through April 11th, 2013, to capture your ideas and feedback.
The four different canvases cover uses in the forest, benefits, improvements, and a
map for your favorite places. Each canvas has a question, and we are looking for your
ideas, suggestions, and comments.
To use the Crowdbrite platform please use the most up to date web browser.
Google Chrome is the preferred web browser and has full zooming functionality.
We are going to begin with, What benefits do you receive from the forest?
When you first open Crowdbrite, you'll be greeted with a
welcome message, which you can quickly read through and close. And then you'll be inside
the canvases.
To participate, you'll need to create an account, or login. To join all you need is your name and
an email address. You can sign-up here.
To zoom in and out of the map you can press the control button for a PC, or the command
button for a mac, and either plus or minus. Or you can use the zoom bar in the upper left
corner.
Contributing your ideas is easy. To leave your own ideas, look to the upper left corner
of the screen and you'll see a yellow sticky. Write you ideas here, click add idea and it
will add it to the canvas and you can move it where you'd like.
You can comment on others ideas by clicking
on the comment button, we'll zoom in, you'll see a comment icon. You can comment here.
If you like someone else's ideas you can click on the number in th upper left of the sticky
to like that idea. You can click on images and videos to view them if they are on the
canvas, or you can add your own up here.
When you are ready to work on a different canvas, you can look to the toolbar across
the bottom and you'll see the four different options here. We're going to choose favorite
places and have a look at this canvas, as it is a little different, this one is a map.
And just like all the other canvases, when
you add an idea, it is going to drop it in the upper left, and you're going to need to
drag it to where you would like it to be.
There is also a legend here with different
color stickies. For instance, if it's off the forest, you'll want to choose the pink
sticky. And then you are going to need t drag that to where you would like it.
Please invite your friends to contribute by
emailing them, or through social media. And most importantly, have fun and help us create
a brighter future.
Thank you for participating and helping craft the future of the Francis Marion National Forest.
