linus magazine the leading digital magazine for female entrepreneurs
is based in Springfield and recently announced they along with the
Northampton area
young professionals I wanted a new series titled 5
here to explain what that is and is Nitasha Clark the founder the Linux
Magazine
and the line a skirt thank you so much to Tasha thank you for joining me today
now let's talk about this series it's titled 5
wifi has a good number it I thought like
I have always been a big fan of TED Talks and I
are we actually hosted a workshop at Western New England your Cal the
participants loved in the *** is what we're gonna do next
and I had no idea are in between the time i've watching different I talks I
thought wouldn't it be cool
if we did like a speed dating version of TED Talks right and you got
on five wonderful experts are passionate female entrepreneurs
together over lunch people like to be fed and you feed them and the
the share their ideas on innovation and entrepreneurship over an hour
arm I thought to be a great thing that we could possibly move around the
Pioneer Valley
sup as to how they got away and if the first one is coming up soon we'll talk
about the detail that that
first or but first let's talk about the magazine linus magazine
it specifically geared towards female entrepreneurs how important
is that into the same age to have a magazine specifically DL
add up but that believe are not their is no mainstream
Entrepreneur Magazine geared towards only one min
I'll II don't the people I have noticed that right away unless they really think
about it so
you have your Inc you have your Fast Company other entrepreneur
the technically geared towards men from the style to the contact
they do feature women you know every now and then but I thought it was
it was weird that there was nothing just for women Sol I emailed from FEMA
entrepreneur is a new anti-drug this really ugly mug cover and said you know
if this existed would you read it
and a bunch of them said not only with the area that they would love to write
for itself three months later we did canvas of luncheon and here we are. but
I think it's important for these women to have their own publication
you know women business owners I think in 2013 Brian over 1.3 trillion dollars
in the US style
why they don't have their own publication was was beyond me
talk about the experience of having this magazine since its launch what has been
the reaction that you received from
readers authors everyone involved its
grey it's funny when I started I thought you know maybe all of creative
publication for female entrepreneurs will keep it local
and then we started getting interviews that we never would have gotten right we
developed a great relationship with lifetime
Queen Latifah had just three made steel magnolias
and they give us a press opportunity an interviewer Jenna being our cover women
and then
we started getting now press releases from this PR person in this your person
in New York and then
we start again Fashion Week I invite than so it kinda took on a life of its
own in
are grew beyond my wildest dreams really quickly and I think now we just heard
determine how sustainable is it how do we move it
you know to the next level in an end really makers a publication that to this
day
and this is really taking it to the next level now with these series that's
titled
i5 the mother is five now now talk about the one coming up on Friday this can be
the first one
how to play in fact review Inc it's exciting and it's near
in a in nervousness too but more excitement than anything
I we're really excited we have a great group for women are going to come in and
share their ideas and have really Ron meaningful a candid conversation
and I'm just excited to really bring it to the Pioneer Valley their lot a great
things going on here
I were flooded with entrepreneurs in the area and so it's really excited to be
able to bring this
extradition to the magazine as a full-bodied
no experience now before we go i do you have to mention because I just love the
fact that
you're not brand new to wtby talk about your relationship with WD
to be like going back ten years ago 10 years
girl I had I finished my time at American International College
and I knew I wanted to be a journalist at: nope I want to do TV or for when its
deep red
and I how I found out that the bday was having production internships and I came
in I played an icon and
and honestly was one of the best experiences of my life the staff here is
wonderful
the people that I actually interned with a couple was actually made really good
friends one moved to in when I been over there I butter whether it's
so it was an amazing experience were kinda made lifelong friends I'll
I always have a special effort to me to be way other
grade from being an intern and wtby that PBS station to now on saying that's the
mantra nor
magazine and that when your plans for the future you have like another
day saying that you're going to do world domination I can take a step at a time
in and as
things kinda naturally organically happen XP and then take it
you now to where it's going to lead but I will say I love living in the pine a
***
