Hi everyone, this is Dr. Susan Riegg from susanrieggmd.com
and in this video I'd like to share with you what I'm planning to do today,
which will be my third day on HCG diet process.
If you watched my previous videos you probably know that I
did fat loading for two days starting on New Years Day,
and today I'm going to do my first very low calorie
diet day. What that means
is, I'm going to be eating, believe it or not, only 500 calories today.
It sounds like
a starvation diet but trust me, it is not!
The reason it's not a starvation diet,
a couple of reasons... First of all,
I'm going to be utilizing all of my stored fat
as HCG helps me to burn
my stored adipose tissue.
One pound of fat contains 3500 calories of stored energy,
and HCG really helps us to burn the fat and preserve lean body mass.
So all that stored fat can be used
for stored energy and for calorie use. Secondly,
what a lot of people don't realize is that the volume of food that you can eat
while you're on HCG is quite significant. The amount of
vegetables is quite abundant.
The protein servings are limited and the fruit servings are limited, but the
amount of vegetable
can be two or three pounds or more, and actually
I don't think I'll be able to eat as much vegetable as would be allowed on
the diet.
The third point I'd like to make is that when you're on HCG,
when you're on the very low-calorie portion up the diet your appetite is
very, very suppressed!
As is often the case with
many of my patients, and it's definitely the case for myself.
My appetite is so suppressed that it's just not a problem at all.
So I'm just going to talk a little bit about
what I'm planning to do today. For my first
very low calorie day,
for breakfast I'm not hungry at all today so I'm
just going to drink coffee and have some grapefruit for
breakfast. I've made salad for lunch which is
going to consist of salad and
lettuce greens and spinach, tomatoes, cucumbers, and celery.
I do like to use hard-boiled eggs.
Dr. Simeons did allow eggs. Specifically he allowed
one whole egg and three egg whites to be used as a protein
serving and I really like to use that personally.
I don't use it often but I like to use it on my salad.
Then the salad dressing I'm going to talk about
in a little bit of detail because that can be a challenge. There's really no
salad dressing that you can buy at any store that's acceptable while you're on
HCG, so you really have to make your own salad dressing.
I'll chat about that a little bit.
Then for dinner I'm going to have chicken breast that I've already prepared
and a small salad, and I love oven roasted asparagus!
I also adore microwaving my apple slices! I like to sprinkle cinnamon and
sometimes I even put some drops of stevia on it and just
microwave them and eat them.
It's just absolutely delicious!
Now the vinegar that I recommend to my patients and that I will be using on HCG
is the Braggs
apple cider vinegar. This is really the best product
to use while you're on HCG, or anytime
really. It's the healthiest product. It's organic. It's non-GMO.
It's an absolutely wonderful healthy product.
This is what we recommend for patients to use
to make their own salad dressing and
I often will give my patients a recipe to make homemade
salad dressing that uses this apple cider vinegar combined with some
homemade salad dressing seasoning
and some other ingredients including lemon juice, and some
stevia and so on. That
makes a wonderful salad dressing! it can also be used to, say,
marinate your meats and it can be used on
vegetables, season vegetables and so on.
So if you're not familiar with Braggs apple cider vinegar please take a look
at it.
I've had patients tell me that they will put a couple of tablespoons of this
in their water and drink it. I've had patients use this
on their skin and just swear by it.
I don't
personally use it to that extent but I haven't ruled it out for the future.
It certainly has many, many raving fans.
I would urge you, if you're interested in
really looking at
taking measures to to pursue a more healthy lifestyle, take a look at this
product.
Now, finding seasonings to make an HCG approved salad dressing
can always be challenging because many of the mixed seasonings have added sugar.
So this is the seasoning mix that I recommended, and I stock this in my office
and I use it myself.
It's called "Homemade Dressings", and it's sold on Amazon. I have not seen it
in any stores locally. So it comes in three different flavors. The French
Garden, Napa Garden, and Italian Garden
and this can be mixed with the Braggs apple cider vinegar and stevia and lemon
and so on.
Sometimes I even mix it with some
yellow mustard powder
and just any combination of
ingredients that you want to put together just to make a creative salad
dressing mix. Salads are really the way to go when you're on HCG because
veggies
are so healthy and they fill you up.
They're very satisfying. If there's any problem with hunger you can just
eat more veggies and it's just the way to go when you're on HCG.
If you're busy mom like I am and you need to take your salad dressing with
you,
you can get a salad dressing bottle on Amazon as well.
As I said before there's no salad dressing out there that you can
really rely on including the
Walden Farms. You know they're
a little deceptive saying they're sugar free, oil free, carb free, but
they do have dextrose and other ingredients that are not optimal while
you're on
HCG. So I do recommend making your own, putting this in your purse or backpack
and taking it with you. Then if you do have to eat out, you can pick up a
salad at
Culvers or McDonalds if you absolutely must.
You know you can get a salad at a restaurant but do not use
the salad dressing! Just take your salad dressing with you and
then you're good to go.
The sweetener of choice is stevia and on the top here I'm showing
the granules which can be used in baking and
obviously in coffees. Then on the bottom you see the
collection of flavored stevias that are wonderful for coffee and tea
and can be used in
flavored water and carbonated waters and things like that.
I strongly recommend using this if you have a sweet tooth and you really
like to
sweeten any of your beverages or any of your foods.
I have many patients who really
love the chocolate flavor
on strawberries or in coffees and you can,
believe it or not get chocolate flavored
SweetLeaf stevia and put the chocolate flavored drops
on your strawberries and it tastes exactly like a chocolate flavored strawberry! Its
fantastic!
So that's all for today!
