In this video we're going to demonstrate a post-shave. A post-shave is very, very important
at the end of the shave. What we're going to do is, we're going to close it with a hot
towel. Then we're going to put a cold towel on. Actually, what it's going to do is contract
the skin, close the pores. What we don't want to do is get bacteria into the skin and in
the pores, and that's the purpose of the cold towel.
After the cold towel, it's going to be brisk. It kind of wakens you up a little bit, and
we're going to put an aftershave balm on it. There's a couple of different aftershaves
that we can use. One is a old-time astringent. It kind of leaves you vibrant and just wakes
you up, and it has a lot of alcohol in it. I prefer using products without alcohol, so
they don't dry out the skin. We're actually going to put a calming balm. It's not going
to do that effect, but what it will do is close the pores up, offer protectant, and
soothe the skin.
I always let my clients know that I'm putting a cold towel, because we put these in ice,
so that they can get cold. So I always warn them, because after a shave they're actually
very, very relaxed. Wipe away and close the skin. This is a shave balm and then we work
up. And the whole idea like I said, is not to irritate the skin, so we try to do it softly.
We try to go with the grain and what this'll do is offer a calming effect and close the
pores. That's a post-shave.
