Hi there, I'm Andrew Thorburn from the Bank of New Zealand, and shortly I'll be
doing the Big Sleepout,
and I wanted to tell you why.
I think we take so many things for granted in our lives and in
New Zealand,
and I think one of those
is that most of us have
a home, a warm home, to go to at night.
And in the winter months
obviously that's crucially important.
But there are so many people around our country and in the city of Auckland,
where that, that, basic umm... right they don't have.
And it's been said that all of us are only only two or three events
in our lives away
from suffering in that way ourselves.
So, I'm doing it because I want to make a statement
that we need to think about these things and not take for granted what we have.
That we need to think about those who are homeless in our city
aah... and to raise funds and to raise awareness
ah... not just of their plight
but how we can solve it
ah... and that's why I'm doing the Big Sleepout on July 4th.
