CYRUS: Hi, I'm Cyrus the product manager for Google
Enterprise search.
I'm excited to demonstrate our latest labs experiment, Cross
Language Enterprise Search for the Google Search appliance.
Here you see Google's simple search box.
Behind it sits the Google Search appliance.
Let's say I'm interested in finding documents on computer
security within my company.
Normally, I would type in Computer Security and the
Google Search Appliance would search all the secure
documents to which I have access and
return relevant results.
Unfortunately, this search only shows me
documents in English.
Wouldn't it be great if I could translate my query into
other languages to see if there were other important
documents on my topic?
Let's choose French, Korean, and Spanish.
Voila.
In a matter of seconds, Google's powerful translation
engine has translated the query into three more
languages and separated the results into four tabs for me.
If you want, you can also see all the results interleaved
into one large list.
Here are the results matching the French
translation for my query.
Here's one for the Korean translation.
And here are the relevant documents matching the Spanish
translation.
It's like having a whole set of translators sitting right
next you at work all day long.
This technology is the fifth example we've launched on labs
that shows how employees using the Google Search Appliance
can tap into the vast and powerful resources of the
Google data centers.
