MS; it is known to play on the emotions.
I was angry, I was angry, I was upset, I was depressed.
There were times when I did become rather anxious about things.
Didn't know for years that the depression was part of the MS.
I couldn't string two words together without crying.
I went through a very...down period
and angry stage in my life.
The most significant dark time, as it were
was when the condition became difficult to manage
and I had to finish work.
I went from a reasonably well paid job to benefits
with a morgage, with a house, with two young children
and that was very difficult.
Not feeling as if I had a role in society anymore,
feeling excluded and some people actually distancing themselves from me.
I really did feel as if there was no light at the end of the tunnel.
It was completely black.
Talking with the MS nurse; she put me in touch with a neuropsychologist.
Over a period of time; she worked with myself and my wife together as a unit
and worked through some of these issues that I was facing.
It got me looking at myself and my mental health state,
cognitive exercises and talk therapy as well.
It's very difficult sometime to get these feelings out
and I felt with the neuropsychologist I could.
That was one of the things that really gave me foundation to go on and get on with my life.
Yes I do have MS but
it doesn't stop me from being an extraordinary person
and doing extraordinary things.
