>> Jim Reavis: Hi, I’m Jim Reavis,
Executive Director for the Cloud Security Alliance.
We’re a global, non-profit association that does research to develop trust
for the next generation of IT,
which is cloud computing.
[music]
Cloud computing is truly at its infancy today
and we are going to find a tremendous amount of growth and solving problems.
With cloud computing and the ability for people to
take an idea and put it into a software application
immediately,
that’s allowing people to take ideas and concepts into actual products
in days instead of
weeks, months, years.

Easy, on-demand access to computing is allowing
new entrance into any market that
really may not need any capital at all,
because with cloud computing you can rent the services –
you only pay for what you use.
The IT professional today has some tremendous advantages
in being able to leverage all of the changes in technology
and cloud computing to further their own career.

Just as cloud computing means very agile computing
and an agile business,
that also means the IT professional and the educational system needs to be very agile
in providing
skills transfers on-demand.
The ability to do a lot of that is probably best suited online.
As long as you understand the principals of why is it important that I learn that specific
technology,
how does it fit into the big picture,
and if you understand that I think you can be very successful as an IT professional
in mastering, what seems like,
technology moving at the speed of light.
