I'm Jennifer Keohane, the Business Outreach Librarian at the Simsbury
Public Library in Simsbury, Connecticut.
This award is so overwhelming as you meet the other librarians that won
I think we're all sort of pinching ourselves saying why me.
For me personally, I think that you do your work on a day-to-day, you think - you come
along and meet people who you feel like you could create something special for,
or solve a problem for, or that you need to do something for - they've
got needs, information needs - they're trying to find a job and you just sort of
role along and you create things and you don't always get a chance to kinda poke
your head up out of the hole and look around and
see everything and really savor what you've built. I think this award
gave me a chance to sit back and look a little bit more about what what we've
been doing and get a chance to enjoy it and also it's so touching to have
someone who is not a library colleague but one of your clients, one of your
patrons - someone who you interact with - take the time and energy
to share what they think about what you've been doing.
It's just really been special and I think it also is intimidating because it makes
you want to raise the bar even higher. It's pretty hard to not want to go beyond
this - and to do even more for these folks.
