welcome to moving forward
i'm diane williamson earlier this week one southern Indiana honored business
leaders with the banquet
and awards program featuring videos Award nominees
and guess who produced those videos Floyd Central High School students from
WNAS TV
WNAS has come a long way since its inception in 1949 as a radio station
today it's a multimedia operation broadcasting 24 hours a day
seven days a week we stopped by the studio to find out how the students got this
opportunity
and chat with Brent Rogers of sounds unlimited productions
who produced this year's awards what the kids have been able to do
is really exceeded all expectations
they have been able to create a time line for filming the videos
reach out to the nominees and set up that time
at every point they have been on time and again had exceeded expectations
but essentially they have showed up as a camera crew
filmed the presentation come back to the studio
done the editing b-roll and really put it all together for us
being involved with the students has been amazing for me to see
it's also been amazing for the One Southern Indiana folks to see we've got young
professionals in the community
these high school students who are amazing they're holding themselves to a
very high caliber of production
they been on point at every level
and it's really been fun to see them operate in fact we feel like when we
show up and
try to offer any help or assistance we're slowing them down
among the many students involved in the production were Haley Hall
Lilly Huntsman and Julie Jackson who took a minute from their busy schedules to
talk with us
about the process of producing each nominee video yeah we had an idea of
questions that on they were on paper and we went from there we just kinda
chose and went back edited it. a lot of people get nervous when they're
in front of the camera and will go "um" or something and they know that we're going to edit it
sometimes you want something to look a certain way and you can't
change it wherever you are out on set while filming something
it's really hard I was actually in a situation
with one of the businesses we went out to it was 7:30 at night
there was no one there no customers there
It was about to close and it was so dark and the lighting was bad and
kind of just have to pull stuff out of
your pocket, you don't really know what to do you have to mess with the camera
you have to, you know, pull out your phone
and turn on a flashlight and have lighting, you have to come up with things out of the blue
each of the girls are planning on a career in video film or television
production
and judging by what we saw they're off to a great start just a heads up that as of
today
our last day of school will be Tuesday June 3rd due to the snow days we've had
this year
hopefully that weather is outta here by now and keep in mind
that graduation day remains June 8th. If you have some great news to tell about
your school please let me know about it
and remember you can find us on Facebook check out our web site followers on
Twitter and now on
