Ok, now that you've got your Canon 40D set up and ready to go, you've inserted your card
and if it's the first time using your card you're definitely going to want to format
the card and the way to do that is by pressing the menu button on the upper left hand corner
of your body on the back side. Go ahead and press that menu button and you'll, you'll
be able to scroll through these menu options, and what you're going to want to do is scroll
down to the first wrench option, menu at the top here, and then you have all these other
sub-menus down here. What I'm going to do is scroll all the way down to the Format sub-menu
and then press set on the camera body and that will take me to the format screen and
there is a note saying "Format CF card". All data will be lost when I do this. So make
sure that there are no pictures on your card that you want to hold on to because when you
do this everything will be gone. So what I'm going to do is use the quick dial to scroll
over to OK and then press set, and once I do this the card will be totally reformatted,
everything will be erased and it will be like brand new. So I'm going to say OK. It will
probably take a little bit longer than that if you've actually got pictures on there,
and then that's it. Your card is reformatted and ready to go.
