Hello I'm Mike McKee the Bishop of the North Texas Conference of the United
Methodist Church
One of my favorite holidays if not my favorite is Thanksgiving
It's the time in which we gather friends and family
around the table. And while we may eat too much
we are aware that we do that because we're expressing
gratitude to our God. During the coming weeks as we prepare to celebrate
that holiday in our country in our homes and
out in the community. I want to invite you to think about what it means to be a
person of gratitude
and understand what it means to live as a person
who is totally devoted to our God and is grateful to our God for each and every
good blessing in our lives
And during this time I would like for us to think about creating a
culture in the North Texas Conference.
A culture of what it means to be a servant. Grateful for what God has done
for each one of us.
We then acknowledge that we have the opportunity to express gratitude to our
God
by being God's servant in the community. And so as you gather
around the table, express to God
your deepest gratitude. But grounded in that gratitude
would you make a vow and a covenant to be a person who
will be a servant in the world. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving
