Now we are going to put the book together. So, you have your two piles. You have got
one of your paper. I do not need two of those so I am going to set that aside. I wanted
this kind of rough edge just for a little design element so the grain would show through.
So, I am going to make sure that that is laying to the back. I am going to line these papers
up so I can see through the holes. And then, with this one I am going to take my leather
strap. I am choosing purple. I think that is a nice contrast with the orange and the
green. And, you are going to put it through one side and pull it through that end. And
then, do the same thing on the leather. We are going to push that through. And, I probably
cannot do this just with my fingers so I am going to get my awl and try to, know you,
get that to poke through a little bit. You can try it with a pen but just be sure you
do not mark too much. Or, maybe a pencil that is retracted. And then, flip that over and
pull enough out so you can make a knot. And, it does not have to be any sort of special
knot. If you know how to do special knots you can do that. But, I am just going to do
a basic, regular knot. And, I am going to do two of them to make it big enough so that
it does not poke back through those holes. Ok. Then, pull that tight. Flip your book
back over. Now, you are going to do the same thing on the next side. Put it through your
paper and pull it through like you are sewing. Grab the end again and I am going to shove
it through. Let us see. And, there it comes poking out. So, I am going pull that. And,
I will make sure when you get this that this is not twisted or doing any kind of weird
bunchy things. You want it to be nice and smooth and flat. So then, pull this side tight
and now you are going to tie the knot on this other end. And, be sure whatever you do on
one side you do on the other. So, I did two knots on that other side. So, I am going to
do two knots on this side also. And, here we go. And, there we go. There is our knots
that are tied. I like to cut at an angle. I think it looks a little nicer than just
a straight cut. You may have to get fabric scissors, but sometimes you can use these.
I am going to shorten this one so it will be a little more even. And, there we go. There
is our knots that are tied.
