Here we demonstrate how to start your internet browser and how to get the best from browsing
your page content.
From your desktop, open an internet browser.
For Microsoft Windows environments, Internet Explorer can usually be selected from the
Start menu, then All Programs, and Internet Explorer.
If you do not have access to Microsoft Internet Explorer, we recommend using the Mozilla Firefox
browser instead (available for Windows, Linux, and Mac).
Remember to "Maximise" your browser window to get the best effect when exploring page content.
Scrollbars are sometimes shown along the bottom or down the side of the page to help you explore
page content which is too big to fit in the window.
Move the mouse pointer around to explore the page content. Additional information is sometimes
shown when you position the mouse over icons.
As you position the mouse over a hyperlink, you should notice the mouse pointer changes
to the "Hyperlink Hand", and that the hyperlink is underlined.
You will also notice the mouse pointer changes to a "Hyperlink Hand" when it is positioned
over a clickable icon.
The "Hyperlink Hand" pointer usually indicates the mouse is positioned over something that
is clickable. Hyperlinks and clickable icons let you navigate
around and interact with the page content.
To activate a hyperlink or clickable icon, make sure the mouse is positioned so the "Hyperlink
Hand" is shown and "Select" with the mouse (usually a single click with your left mouse button).
Note that it is considered poor practice to double click on hyperlinks or icons inside
the browser.
Single clicks are all that are required when browsing, so try to get into the habit.
For information - double clicking should only really be used to activate programs and files
from your Windows desktop.
