>> Oran Etkin: [Inaudible] because I know
that I can play music,
and people can hear it, but I don't know.
What is it?
[inaudible audience response] Our ear drums.
There are ear drums inside.
>> Lisa Siegman: I thought the assembly was wonderful.
I thought that the balance of showing the students
and involving them with the importance of highs and lows
and sound and volume and their understanding of the music
and the way function and that they actually got
to participate.
There was enough music so it was really fun,
but the message kept being reinforced in multiple ways.
So they were both listening, but they were also participating
and controlling the volume.
Just experiencing what that meant.
>> Oran Etkin: Inside our ears there are little tiny hairs.
There are little tiny hairs inside our ears,
and you know what they do?
They usually just sit there like this.
If you put your hands up like you're [inaudible],
they usually just sit there like this.
But you know what happened?
When you play a loud sound, the ears,
the little hairs go like that.
[inaudible] But when you play a quiet sound,
they go very gentle like this.
And [inaudible].
They're still.
>> Joseph Cerquone: I want to thank you.
Lisa, your teachers, your parents, and, in particular,
Mr. Fuller here and Bongiovi acoustics for helping
to make this possible.
This certifies that the American Speech Language Hearing
Association recognizes PS3 Sheret School
as an official 2012 Bud School by virtue of its participation
in the Listen to Your Buds Safe Listening campaign.
Congratulations.
