We’re all pretty interesting people, don’t get me wrong. But sometimes, you need the
news as curated for you by the likes of Kevin Rose or Arianna Huffington. Or your other,
less famous but just as engaged Twitter mates. Based on Twitter, you can add your news.me
using Friends, but mostly, it’s a chance to follow what your internet heroes are reading.
You get a snippit on the stream, and a quick swipe to the side allows you to save it for
later, either via instapaper or the news.me library, or mute the story from all your feeds.
A big swipe will reveal the story in all its glory and the tabs at the top allow you to
save it for later, open it on the web or share it via various services. Now, cost-wise, it’s
free for a week, but to use it forever will cost you 59pence per week. But for that, you’ll
get access to articles from all over the web, including the New York Times, which is paywalled.
With so many of these news curation apps out there, I’m not sure I can justify the £2.40
a month for news.me. But it still has 6 days to convince me otherwise.
