Hi everyone it's April with Hair 101 and today
we're going to do a high and tight
i'm going to put a little spin on it i'm going to do a high and tight
and high and tight technically you can change the length on it
it's going from zero to no hair
or zero to like a one i'm doing to nothing
from no hair up to the roll of the head or the parietal bone
and then this section right here
is where it starts to blend and then the top is a little bit longer
and I've seen a lot of videos and people wearing their high and tights
and they take a number three or whatever and they just buzz it
all the way up on the top i'm not a huge fan of that because
the roll of the head it gives it a round look
i'm going to leave a little bit more length in the front
and give it more of a flat look to it
not really a flat top but
that is going to be closer to
what we are going for here this is my high and tight
I hope you guys like it let's go so we are going to stat cutting
we'll go from closed clippers which means it's as short as it can possible go
and I'm gonna just take it and start here and then i'm going to go straight up
don't roll with the head you're going to keep your
body right to where you're working and go straight up and then
gonna move around or
spin the chair i'm probably going to move around and spin the chair
since i'm trying to give you the best angle let's do it
okay here we go straight up
the first pass can be removing bulk
better to leave a little bit extra on there just so you are safe
alright
now i'm going to go back here straight up
he's got lots of hair high and tight
he's going to be able to say that to everyone
check it outI got my hair high and tight I can put it on facebook
now is is where we are really going to start getting in there
and this is awesome because he's going to have to shave when he gets home because
it's shorter than his facial hair Awesome!
okay just go straight up
and right here where this grows in a little bit you can
take that off but we're leaving this weight
in here that's very important we are going to go through
with the comb later on and blend it out but you can see
just a straight line all the way up and you can use a comb right here
comb all that hair down nothing can reach
down here if the hair is long enough to reach down here it needs to be cut off
so you're fine but don't roll with the head
I can't stop saying that because it's one of my pet peeves
you don't want to dement the shape of the head
I don't know maybe you do
this would be an awesome mullet!! should we leave it?? should we?
would Dionne love it or hate it?
we won't
I won't do that to you
I don't know it's pretty hot though like the mullet
maybe we'll do one side high and tight and one side mullet start a new trend
okay
I'm keeping my arm where i'm working if I try to reach around with this
the line is not going to be right i'm not going to be able to see if i'm going straight up off the head
keep moving don't let your feet be cemented to the ground
either use the chair to move them I mean if I wasn't filming this I probably
would walk around him just so I could keep using the mirror
for the reference while i'm cutting
but I've done it long enough
I will give you guys the best angle
okay straight up
make sure you get all these hairs
how awesome would that be to leave those down there
and sometimes you're Clippers will vibrate and then start to open a little bit
keep them closed you can keep your thumb on it if that helps
if you notice that your clippers are doing that you can
keep your thumb there
alright
straight up
the cool thing about this is you can choose the length on the top
technically it would still be a high and tight I guess
slash pompadour they don't all have to be buzzed off
is what i'm trying to get across here
if it was military it would probably be pretty short on top
that looks pretty good
now that I have the sides done
I'm gonna take T-edge clippers and clean up
any long hairs that might be around the perimeter square it out in the back
get rid of any neck hairs
i'm just doing a square line
even though the hair is so short it's not really cutting too much off
I do it anyway it makes it look cleaner
okay alright so now is the fun part
we're going to get this wet
use your spray bottle and mist it around there you go
and we're going to do some shear over comb
so what i'm going to do is lift this straight up
and chop it off
i'm blending this weight-line in a little bit but i'm still leaving the weight
I'm just going straight up with a comb and tightening up just a little bit
we're not going for a heavy weight-line right there
we are just leaving some thickness
so it gives it a nice shape
that's what we're trying to go for
trying to do this with your fingers is pointless because the hair is too short
so you need to do shear over comb
the bottom or thumb is whats moving this is staying straight
alright i'm going to start in the back
i'm going to cut this with my fingers as short as I possibly can
i'll start right here in the back with this mohawk section and i'm going to cut it right there
as short as I can get it
following the guide from the section we blended in the back
this you are following the roll of the head
and we're going to do this all the way to the middle section of the head
right where a comb would rest on the head if you let it sit there
i'm going to comb all this forward and this is what we're working on
i'm going to take that up in the mohawk
a little half mohawk section and chop that off
as short as I can get it
alright and then i'm going to go back next to it
to the same thing i'm going to work in sections this way
until I get right here
and if it needs more blending on the sides I want it to look pretty straight up on there
that was a nice little chunk i'll blend that in
there we go
if you see any long spots you can do the comb over shear
your fingers won't be able to like pinch all of it perfectly
so if you have a few long places you can clean it up with
just doing the comb over shears just to make it look more clean
right here we are going to do the same thing we did on the other side
clean up that section
all right keep in mind we're only doing right to the ear
or the roll of the head as short as we can go with
our fingers there we go
so if anything is sticking up over your fingers
check it you can cross check it
by going the other way
that helps you get the valleys and peaks
from finger cutting
do one more little check
okay so now we have the front section that we need to blend in
because we want the hair to
not look super super short right here and have this really around
cutup head look I don't know how to explain it
I'm going to elevate the hair up
so that its even with the back so if you're wondering
you can take your comb right there so you're going to still have some length on the front
that's why I'm gonna do down haters gonna hate
i'm calling it high and tight still because I think it is
and that's what i'm going to do
there we go
you're taking that section blending it all the way back until it meets up with
the super short back
now that you have the mohawk section cut Tilt your head up
I have to get some high heels on with this guy this length right in here is a low point
you need to even that out
so cut the hair pull it straight up even that out
there we go
and then we are going to cut back diagonal
or no.. horizontal sections until you meet up with
that back section
other side
you notice i'm cutting off more as I go back because i'm following that guide that I established in the middle
and then i'm going to connect these two sides
so the front has the length that I want now i'm going to have to go really short again
this is going to be finger length also
right in this side
and then i'm going to go on his left side
on my right side and i'm going to face him
and then cut this way it's easier to see my guide this way
and you can comb all this forward and clean up the front area
you don't want any little fuzzies hanging out
okay I see a high spot right here in the back
i'm going to cross check a few more times get this nice and tight
also you can cross check in the front
by pulling that hair straight up
and following it back to the guide in the back
you will have a few
mountain and valleys to clean up right here from the fact that we took horizontal sections
with our fingers the hair that grows right in here
I always push it forward and take it on an angle to fade it in
then it gives it a good blend from the face
so you don't have a heavy weight line you can even take your comb in like this
and just knock it off
with the clippers to style this up we're going to use some gel
i'm using the firm hold styling gel from American Crew
stick it in there
usually just goes all back and you can see how
he has some shape in his hair still it's not just
buzzed off that's easy
I could have spent time trying to show you how to use clippers and buzz it off
there's not really any skill in that
if that's what you want to do just buzz the clippers and buzz it off
thanks so much for watching you guys I hope you enjoyed this video. we'll see you next time
