Welcome to Kingston University International Student Advisory Centre more commonly referred
to as ISAC. The International Student Advisory Service is a specially supported department
for international students at Kingston. We offer a wide variety of services before students
arrive and during their studies. We’re located at the International Centre
in Swan House, which is only a short walk from Penrhyn Road, Knights Park Campus, and
Kingston Town Centre. Our services include providing information, guidance and advice
on immigration matters, such as applying for and extending a student visa; registering
with the police when you arrive; working during and after your studies; travelling abroad
during your studies; adjusting to living and studying in the UK and other areas such as
accommodation, finances and general advice. Our team of friendly, international student
advisors are authorised and qualified to provide advice and information on a variety of issues.
If we’re unable to help with a particular matter, we’ll know who to refer you to.
Areas of our expertise include student visas. If you’re still in your home country we’ll
advise you through the visa process and what documents you’ll need to provide to the
UK border agency and a tier for of the points based system. We will also provide you with
the important confirmation of acceptance for studies, commonly known as a CAS number that
is required to support your application and will be generated as part of a statement and
sent to you via email. We can also advise you on how to extend or
switch your visa to study at Kingston University, if you are already in the UK or on a student
visa or a visa in another category. During your studies, you may want to get a
part time job or do some voluntary work. We’ll guide you on the type of work you are allowed
to do; the number of hours you can work and if you need to apply for a national insurance
number. A small number of international students from
certain countries are required, by law, to register with the police when they arrive
in the UK. If you need to register, we’ll provide you with all the necessary information
and arrange to take you to the oversees visitors’ records office to register.
You may want to travel and visit other countries during your stay in the UK and we can help
with the information on applying for the necessary visa or entry clearance. Moving to a country
can be overwhelming so if you want to talk to someone about your life in the UK, we are
here to listen and support you. Appointments are available to discuss any concerns or issues
with one of our advisors in a confidential setting.
We’re committed to helping Kingston international students so please contact us if you need
any assistance. One of our advisors will be happy to meet with you. Here are our contact
details.
