JSTOR is a multi-disciplinary database that contains a over 1,500
full-text academic journals from 1665 to the present.
This database also has ebooks, pamphlets, and reviews.
To narrow your search and retrieve the best results, use the Advanced Search option.
Before you begin your search, make sure the box next to
"include only content I can access" is checked.
In JSTOR, you can narrow you search by item type,
date range,
language, publication title, or ISBN.
You can also narrow by 57 different disciplines.
This can help define the subject area of your search.
The Advanced Search screen contains multiple search bars to allow you to enter
more than one term at a time.
For this example, we'll search for information about Africa
and
music.
The results of this search are organized under different tabs including All
Results, Journals, Books, and Pamphlets.
The title of the item is located at the top of each entry with the citation information underneathe.

To view more information about a journal article,
click on the Article Summary link.
The abstract provides a summary of the article's content. This introduces
the scope, thesis, and relevancy of the article.
To read the article, click on the View PDF link.
