Hi, we're here today at Heritage Mountain in beautiful BC. It's mid-november and as
you can see from the beautiful autumn trees, they're starting to finish their
vivid colors now
and in fact tomorrow we may get a little bit of snow.
And so we're going through all the difference seasons and enjoying each and
every one of them were in our times of videotaping for you.
I got to thinking how our prayer lives also ... have different seasons.
I'm sure you've probably been through a time when it's - you might call it your dry
season of prayer, and I've been through those and they're the most
difficult times. Because you can feel as though God is so distant. You can feel as
though your prayers are hitting a ceiling and not going anywhere. You
can feel as though you just can't etch out that time to go pray and then
you begin feeling distant from that,
and it can be a very difficult time. But I just- I really want to encourage -
that if you are in that dry season of prayer keep persevering, as the bible says, don't give up.
You know, make an effort. There are things you can do to help bring you out of that
season. Some of those things would be: Spending more time in the bible.
Of course, attending church.
... Having prayer times with other people - that's very building, edifying and
encouraging. To get together with a group of people, or just another friend, to
pray together.
and ... crying out to God through the dry times, because I just really want
impressed upon you that, you know, as the word says, that the Lord
promises: as we draw near to him, he is drawing near to us. And when we feel
distant from him it's not God that has moved - it is us -
we have moved.
And, also realizing there are times when we just have won't feel his presence in
our prayer times. But those in the times we're to continue in faith. Those are the
times that we're to know and stand on His word. That He is there with us even though
we may not be feeling it. And when we do that, when we continue to press through
during those times, it pleases him. Because he sees that we are not basing
our faith.
we're not basing our prayer times,
we're not basing our walk with him by our emotions, but we're basing it on our
faith.
So I just want to encourage you today to base your prayer on faith. To know that if
you are in a dry season that Spring coming and to not give up. Just as surely
as these leaves will turn orange next fall, your prayer life will once again be
vibrant and alive in the power of the Holy Spirit
So, God bless you. And thanks for listening. Bye now.
