Hi everybody, Bohus here for Fotodiox Pro
and in this video we're going to talk about the news that we just heard about Sony's
new announcement of a new camera
and we'll also talk about the Vizelex RhinoCam and how those two things can
come together.
Sony just announced a pair of new cameras actually,
the Sony A7 and the A7R. Now these continue in the Sony tradition of these compact
little tiny cameras that have, you know, DSLR type quality, but they're really small,
they'll fit in your pocket. We learned that these are gonna have an
NEX style mount. Well, that's great, because the RhinoCam
works with NEX-style cameras like this, we've got an
NEX 5 on the back here. If you'll remember we introduced RhinoCam a few
months ago
and we got a bunch of press for it and a lot of our customers have had a lot of
fun
creating these multi megapixel pictures: great for landscapes, buildings,
architecture, that kinda thing.
And what it lets you do is take your compact little camera
and take full, medium format size pictures.
So, with our NEX 7 we were getting, like, you know,
130 megapixel images, which is pretty amazing as you can imagine,
And here's how it works. On the front you've got a medium format lens.
In our case this is a Hasselblad V, but you can choose other lens mounts too,
you can go Hasselblad V,
Mamiya 645 or Pentax 645. You've got your lens on the front and on the back
you mount the camera, basically this become a digital back for this lens.
And you can either orient it this way or this way depending on whether you're
shooting a panoramic shot or more of a
645 format shot. But basically the
lens stays completely still and the camera moves.
You just shift it over, take an image, there are registration marks right on the
RhinoCam itself.
You take either six or eight images that you stitch together in Photoshop or
other stitching software
and you get these massive images that have a tremendous amount of detail, you
can zoom
way in there and see just how detailed these images are.
So we're excited because the Sony A7 and A7R
have even more megapixels built in. So we're figuring you're gonna be able to
get images of like
200 megapixels plus while still having
a camera set up that'll fit in your camera bag or in your backpack.
Great for you landscape guys, explorers, wilderness people,
all of you who want to take these giant pictures, it'll all still fit,
as you see it's pretty tiny. Well, we're waiting to get our Sony A7
so we can test it out for you. Signs are good that it's gonna fit because the NEX
mount is the same.
But we thought, hey, we haven't talked about RhinoCam for a while and we'd like to
make it easier
for more of you to try it out. So what we've done is we've slashed the price.
Originally the RhinoCam was $500, including one lens mount.
Well,
for this week, let's call it Rhino Week, for this week we will give you a discount of
two hundred bucks.
So for $300 you can get a RhinoCam system
with your choice of lens mount, and that way you can mount your NEX camera
on the back
and take it out for a spin and we would love to see the images you come up with!
In fact, if you link below
you'll see some of the videos we've created, you can see some of the images customers
have sent us,
and you can get more details on how to make the RhinoCam yours.
So just click below and remember, you've only got till the end of the week
to pick up your RhinoCam for the special discount price have of
$300.
My name is Bohus, thanks for watching.
