It's a plain and simple fact, working on the go can be risky. AVG can help
you search and surf the web safely, with antivirus, antispyware, and
antimalware software. Unfortunately, we can't be your eyes and ears
everywhere, so we've kindly compiled a common sense guide for you to stay
protected, while working on the move.
First up, do not lose your hardware. Count the items in and out of your
bags, and don't forget your power cable, or anything else important. Next,
think about where you're sitting and if anyone can look over your screen or
your keyboard. Thief's steal personal information by looking over people's
shoulders all the time.
If you have to use a public computer then make sure you never enter any
personal information on that machine. Be extra wary of free wireless
networks in public places, unless they're advertised by the venue and have
a wireless security key. Never ask a stranger to look after your laptop
while you use the restroom.
Similarly, keep your laptop bag close with you at all times. If you can't
see it or feel it, then it may as well be gone. Password protection should
be enabled on your laptop and smart phone. Please, don't use password as
your password. Opt instead for an alphanumeric mix with special characters,
as well as uppercase letters.
And most importantly, make sure you have a fully, updated antivirus
software installed on your PC at all times. All of the above advice should
take you no more than a few minutes to think about, and no more than a
couple of clicks to bring into action. Why not forward this video to a
colleague and keep a friend safe too?
