Int: Good Morning, here, we are meeting Jose Luis
Who will tell us,about, how used to be Ciudad Bolivar, a half-hundred years ago
JL: Emm, Good morning,
First: So,is nice to know that there is youth wanting to know a bit of the historic topic of the town
Above all, progress that it has taken last decades
Going back to the year 1970,1960, 1965
Which Bolivar has had in progress , i could say is a little known
In the 65' year , Bolivar had own electricity
Which was more that remains on dark than lit
On education, the most schools used to have One or two teachers
Today , we have very large schools, with thirty-three educational establishments
Thirty of these on rural zone, Four on urban zone among themsleves a private school
Within the architectural,
In the 80´s, Bolivar had a big development with the first popular mayoralty of the colombians towns
Incluided Bolivar City
Where appear neighborhood foundations, like CONRADO VELEZ, the faster ever built
Then, is coming which today is well- known like Alferez, La Colina, places related to Rincones De Alferez
That have been popular streets, where was development urban part
In pavemental, about streets
Also, there was a great development because these used to do with reinforced concrete in some parts other with bridlepath
Today we look the high street built in pavement as we say,
And the others streets all they are cobbled
And anyway, that have embellished the urban with its colonial architectural
Unfortunately, we lose this part of architectural culture
Because now we see the modern architectural
Which we begin to see large buildings with more than three levels
And unfortunately, Bolivar hadn' t a very definite area expansion
So, we have to use the most comfortable part, like the air above us
In terms of hidric resources, in fact , has deteriorated so much, for instance the river is polluted
Until 2012, in Bolivar, have disappeared seventeen affluents that is very noticeable
Im sad to see this essential part to life on earth is lost
Also is notable, our degrading issue with the monocropping
Coffe is almost completely, is one of the bigger problems on Bolivar
With the actual coffe price, and with entire economic around it
What will be Bolivar in the nearest future?
This leads us to think about other economic bases like turism, and diversification of products
Because Bolivar in the 19th century was a good productor of fique banana, beans, korn, yucca and tobacco
When, we got the first place at departmental level in terms of production of yucca and tobacco
Today Yucca is brought from Quibdo, tobacco is not known, fique much less
So, we only see coffe and it is only for year seasons, one or two collections that are the source of employment
That is what happens in Bolivar since the 60's decade until today
That if technology has advanced, yes it do
But our youth, which is what most concerns us, they haven´t chance
They will have to get out , to search in others horizonts, or bring their resumes to a supermarket
Because there isn´t more to do in this town
But, when our town had companies bottlers, soda manufactures, sailmakers, soap industries
And today we have nothing in terms of industry in our town
Int: Thanks a lot
