This video will demonstrate how you can use the Library Catalog to place a hold on an item that has been checked out.
From the Search Results list, locate the item you would like to place on hold.
Click on the item's title.
Click on Place Hold, which is located on the left side of the screen.
Type your user ID number in the first text box.
The user ID number is your library barcode number. The barcode should start with the numbers 23031…
Type the entire barcode number in the top box. This is the only thing you need to fill out.
When you are done, click on the Place Hold button.
The next screen should list your name and user ID#, along with the title and author of the item being held.
The pickup location should be Pitt.
Click OK.
If there are any problems with your account you will get a message such as: "User Blocked" or "User Not Found."
You may see these messages if you have overdue items, library fines, or an expired library account.
You can contact the Library in order to find out what the problem might be.
Once you are done, be sure to click Log Out, which is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
A Library staff member will contact you once your item has arrived.
Held items can be picked up from the Circulation Desk, which is on the 1st floor of the Library.
