Oh, great. Dixon Landing Road again.
Who knows how long it will take me now.
The driver’s frustration is real.
The 237/880 interchange is notorious for back-ups.
Brake lights. Stand-still traffic. Late for work.
The commuter has seen it all.
Express Lanes: Coming soon. Hmmmm...that's interesting!
Great! It took me 25 minutes, and I only went six miles.
Now I'm late for work.
VTA has a solution to our commuter's problems: Express Lanes.
With Express Lanes, single drivers will be able to use the carpool lane, if they pay a toll.
Regular carpool vehicles will continue to use the lane for free.
Gee! I sat in this same traffic this morning!
Express Lanes already exist on segments of Hwy 680.
VTA expects to open Express Lanes along the 237/880 interchange by the end of the year.
Within the next five years, more Express Lanes will be available on SR 85 and also on Hwy 101.
Revenue generated by tolls will be used to operate the lanes,
and to fund congestion - and transit - improvements with the corridor.
Surprise, surprise... Stop and go again at the metering light.
Whew! Finally made it through the metering lights.
Express Lanes I'm definitely looking forward to that!
