Batman: Arkham Knight announced, Nintendo taking the Wii and DS offline, Titanfall to
run in less than 1080p - all that and more coming up right now on the Curse Weekly ROundup!
Hey guys it's Jess, and today is Friday, March 7th. FIrst up, Batman: Arkham Knight has been
announced. Of course, this is the next in the Batman: Arkham series, but it is the first
game in the series that will actually include a drivable Batmobile. It will be released
on the current generation of systems only, Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with no exact release
date announced past "2014." You can click the link in the video description to view
the announce trailer for yourself.
TwitchPlaysPokemon has...well, finished playing Pokemon! THey beat Red, and after just a short
break, recommenced the anarchy by beginning Pokemon Crystal. To be fair, democracy is
also represented....technically. At the start of every hour the game automatically goes
into democracy mode, but lets users vote on whether they want to switch back to anarchy.
So far, democracy hasn't lasted more than 3 minutes. Welp.
Nintendo has announced that it's shutting down online multiplayer services for the DS
and the Wii on May 20th. This means that games will no longer work online, but you can still
play them offline of course, and you will still be able to use apps like Hulu, YouTube,
the built-in browser, and the online store. Sure, most people didn't play a TON of Wii
or DS games online, but still - seems kinda soon, right? I wonder if a bunch of Super
Smash Brothers Brawl players are gonna leave their games on for a few weeks after the shutdown
like those guys did for Halo 2? Probably not.
Titanfall will NOT be running in 1080p on the Xbox One, as previously rumored. Respawn
CEO Vince Zampella took to twitter to deliver the concise news, simply replying "no" to
a tweet asking if the rumors were true. So how do we feel about this? PC purists are
saying "You guys are dropping five hundo for a machine that does the same thing my 6-year-old
PC can do!" while others are saying "so? the beta didn't play at 1080p and it was still
great." Leave me your thoughts in the comments!
The International 2014, Valve's massive million-dollar Dota 2 tournament, will be held this year
in July, instead of August as it has been for the previous three years. Gabe Newell
did a long-awaited AMA on reddit earlier this week where he explained that this decision
was partially due to being unable to find a venue available for August. On that note,
the tournament will also be changing to a larger venue; previously held at Seattle's
Benaroya Hall, The International 2014 will mostly likely take place at Key Arena. We've
linked Gaben's AMA for you in teh video description if you're interested in reading the rest of
what he had to say.
Amy Hennig, writer and leader of development for the next installment in the Uncharted
series, has left Naughty Dog. After 10 years with the company, where she served as director
and writer of the first three Uncharted titles, sources say she was "forced out" by The Last
Of Us' Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley. A representative from Sony states taht the development
timeline of Uncharted will NOT be impacted.
That's all for this week! As always, be sure to subscribe, like, and leave us a comment,
and I'll see you guys next time! Until then, enjoy the game.
