I’m Tracy Tenner with Better Behavior Dog Training at Extra Care Animal Hospital in
Davie, Florida. I am here today on behalf of Expert Village.com at the Tri County Humane
Society in Boca Raton, Florida, where I have volunteered as a trainer and a behaviorist.

health of that particular dog. Also, the staff at the animal shelter will be able to tell
you more. Is the dog heart worm negative? Has the dog been treated for intestinal parasites?
Is the dog clear of fleas and ticks? If it is a large breed dog, has it been tested for
hip displasia or has it been x-rayed? If it’s an older dog, has it been checked out for
heart conditions, liver or kidney conditions? Has there been basic blood work done? Each
shelter that you go to will have different levels of care that they offer. Some shelters
will actually have veterinarians or veterinarian technicians on staff to make sure that the
dogs are and remain healthy and in good condition. When choosing the right pet for you above
all things that your shelter staff can tell you and fill you in on and let you know whether
