I was just eating breakfast. A delicious concoction of Muesli and Jus d'Orange when she walked
in. What femme fatale was this, I wondered? She explained that she loved fish and wanted
to know where all the seafood in her University restaurant came from. I said her story sounded
rather 'fishy' and she said 'Yes, that's the whole problem'. Overfishing is damaging our
fish stocks which means we have to look after our Hake, our Haddock and our Halibut. Oh
seriously why did I have to pick only fish that begin with H. She wanted to be sure that the
fish from her University restaurant was coming from sustainable fisheries. I told her I would
take the case for just one saucisson per day plus expenses. It was time to go undercover
at the University. Right on my young friends oh la la.
Tell me little fellow where do you come from? Are you sustainable? Oh, I see, you don't want to talk ey.
But then I saw something that blew the case wide open. I told my client that she had nothing to worry
about because her University was using MSC certified fish. Which means that it can be
traced back to a fishery which has proved it is sustainable. And not just her University,
all these too. Now she could eat fish in the restaurant safe in the knowledge that by buying
MSC certified fish her University was making sure that we still had plenty more fish in
the sea for generations to come.
Oh la la.
