Hello, and welcome to the Watson Library.
Today I'm going to show you how to register for an account with Interlibrary Services.
Watson Library Interlibrary Services supports the research activities of Metropolitan Museum of Art staff
by obtaining books, journal articles, and other texts that are not available in the Museum's libraries.
Only Metropolitan Museum staff and volunteers may register for an Interlibrary Services account.
Researchers from other institutions should contact their home library for all interlibrary loan requests.
To begin, click on the Interlibrary Services link on the left side of the Portal page, beneath My Library Account.
Here you can find additional information on the services we provide.
You are encouraged to read our Borrowing FAQ before using this service.
If you already have an account, you can log in to it here or here.
This is the Interlibrary Services login page. If you have not used this system before, click on "Register Here."
Read through the information provided on this page, and if you accept the conditions, click on "I Accept" at the bottom.
Fill in the requested information:
your first name, your last name, your Museum ID number, and your e-mail address.
Please use the e-mail address you check most frequently.
Then enter your four digit Museum telephone extension, your status and your department.
If you do not see your status or department listed, select the last option—other.
If you would like to add any authorized users to your account, you can enter them here.
If you do not want to authorize additional users, just leave this space blank.
Now choose a username and password.
Only you will know this password—it will not be seen by any library staff.
Once you have filled out this form, review the information and click submit.
You now have an Interlibrary Services account and are logged in.
You can begin placing requests by clicking on the appropriate link under "New Request."
Interns and volunteers must consult interlibrary loan books in Watson Library.
These will be held for you behind the Circulation Desk.
Museum staff may consult books in their offices; these will be delivered to you the morning after they arrive.
If you are an intern or volunteer requesting for someone who is eligible to use these materials in his or her office,
you must request items in the name of the person who is going to use them.
For further information on placing requests with Interlibrary Services, please consult the Borrowing FAQ,
and stay tuned for future instructional videos.
You may also request assistance from the Interlibrary Services department by e-mailing interlibrary.services@metmuseum.org,
or by visiting the Reference Desk in Watson Library.
Thank you for watching this video.
