How to Access Brake Light Switch for LR3
My name is Doug, and I am going to be taking over for Jim doing these tech videos along
with answering any of your tech support questions here at RoverParts.com. And what I am going
to do is a brief introduction, this is a common problem with the LR3s, the brake light switch,
and I'm just going to show you essentially how to the access the switch and make life
a little bit easier for you. Essentially it is a relatively easy access. What we have
is a bottom panel underneath. Now this panel also includes your courtesy light, so you're
going to be careful when you drop it. All you have is 2 Phillips screws in the front
of the panel, and they're just a quick release, 3 quarter turn and they drop. Over to your
right against the center console this carpeted piece is part of the lower panel, and it is
held in by a snap clip which you grab from the back side, you'll pull, and that will
release. Drop your lower panel, if you lift down in the center area and then push up with
left hand you can unclip the panel because it seats in behind the left side kick panel.
This is so you don't have to disassemble all this on the left side. Now the courtesy lamp
is already missing, so we don't have to worry about that. This panel comes out, and if you
want a little bit easier access, the knee bolster pops out as well. This way when you
go to change it you actually have an opening right here in the dash, and you're looking
right at the brake light switch. From the switch it's just a simple 90 degree turn,
it pops out, you disconnect your connector, reverse the procedure to put it back together.
very easy, and like a I said it is a very common problem so this gives you an idea that
this is not an insurmountable job. That's all there is to it. And that brake light switch
will be available, you can get it through any of our salesmen at Roverparts.com. You
can reach us at 1-800-533-2210. Just that easy.
