How to Clean a Clothes Dryer Exhaust Duct. Keep your clothes dryer running safely and
efficiently by cleaning the exhaust duct on a regular basis. Follow these steps to keep
your dryer operating in top condition. You will need Screwdriver Vent brush Industrial
vacuum Sponge Soap and dust mask (optional). Step 1. Unplug the dryer and use a screwdriver
to detach the hose from the exhaust duct. Step 2. Inspect the hose and the aluminum
elbow that attaches to the wall. Remove lint by feeding a vent brush through the dryer
from inside the machine through the hose. Cleaning out the dryer vent can be a dirty
job. Wear a dust mask to keep from breathing dust and other particles that may be released.
Step 3. Use an industrial vacuum to thoroughly clean the area behind your dryer, the back
side of your dryer, and the area around the vent pipe. Step 4. Use a sponge and soap to
clean up any *** that has built up on the floor behind your dryer. Clean the lint filter
after every load of laundry to keep your dryer operating smoothly. Step 5. Reattach the vent
hose and secure it in place, and then plug in your dryer. Clean the exhaust duct at least
