>> ROGER: In the two years I've had this car,
this is the easiest and safest way I've found
to get four wheels off the ground.
You need some equipment, though.
I've got two Rhino Ramps here,
my floor jack,
a hockey puck,
four 2x12s from Home Depot,
four flat-top jack stands--
these two here I bought commercially
and these I made myself off of,
well, yet more hockey pucks.
And, this is called a Jim Clayton helper--
jack helper--
and you don't need this but
it comes in handy as I'll show you later.
>> ROGER: So, the first thing you want to do is
drag the car up on these. These 2x12s give you
a little bit more clearance
to get the floor jack underneath the cars.
They are really low to the ground.
>> ROGER: Next, we jack the car up from the middle
to get this Rhino Ramp underneath the rear wheel
and to get this jack stand under the front jack point.
>> ROGER: And now, let's repeat what we did here
on the other side.
>> ROGER: This level is fine if all you have to do
is change your oil or transmission fluid.
But, if you need to get all four wheels off the ground,
then you need one more step.
>> ROGER: The rear jacking points of the Lotus
are behind the undertray and the diffuser.
So normally, we'd have to remove
all of that to support the rear of the car in the air.
But, we don't have time for that.
>> ROGER: That's where the Jack Helper comes in.
It's a steel bar with two steel pipes welded in
at exactly the parts where
the bolts are on the jack points.
This lets you lift the vehicle's
entire rear up without having to first remove the diffuser
>> ROGER: And now, we can get a couple of jackstands under here to support the bar.
>> ROGER: And that's how you get all four wheels off the ground.
