In this video I would like to show you my medieval style crossbow.
I've made this completely out of paper and cardboard
and this is also powered by rubber bands.
You can see that there are yellow rubber bands, which provide the power.
The trigger mechanism is very simple.
Let me take this off right now.
You see this piece here, this piece is called the 'nut'
and this nut can rotate.
So the string will be held behind this nut.
When you pull the trigger,
-
the nut rotates and it releases the string.
Let me show you how to *** the weapon.
To *** the weapon,
you have to set
the nut of the crossbow
to the correct position.
That is,
like this. Such that
when we pull the string back
the string will come, push the nut
and lock the string in place. Cocking the weapon
is very simple.
All you need to do is put the crossbow down.
Then you put your feet over the prod
and now that we have set the nut to the correct position, all we have to do
is pull the rubber bands up. And now,
the weapon is cocked.
Loading the weapon is also very simple.
All you need to do is
take your bolt
and slide it over the railing.
And it's done.
Another thing I want to show you is,
I have made a groove over here in the nut,
so that
the bolt is in contact with the string.
So, the string can apply all it's force over the bolt when you shoot
This piece can be put-back by just
sliding it in and now the weapon is loaded.
Let's shoot with it. To shoot,
all you need to do
is pull the trigger.
Let me show you how to *** it again.
Set the nut to the right position.
Pull the string up.
The weapon is cocked. To load it
just slip the bolt through.
And it's loaded.
It's quite a strong weapon.
Let's shoot from a farther distance.
So as you saw,
the weapon was quite powerful.
This weapon can shoot
straight at a range of 10 to 15 feet.
How accurate is the weapon?
Well it's not very accurate.
I've kept a cup over there and
I am standing 2 to 3 metres away from it but I still cannot hit it.
I don't know how I can make it
more accurate. So I don't think I can do anything about it.
Well thanks for watching. I hope you enjoyed it.
