Hi. I'm here to show you how use e-valueBC: an easy and convenient way to
compare assessments online
This helpful resource allows you to check that your property is fairly and
equitably assessed
Here's how it works
On our website click on the link that will take you to the e-valueBC page
The first thing you'll see is a terms of use agreement
the agreement explaines that the information is to be used for personal
use and not commercial purposes
Also, that the information is not to be gathered for
solicitation or other prohibited uses.
Click the box saying you've read and agree, and click next
The next screen is used to identify the property you want to compare
On the quick search screen
begin by entering in the street number and street name. If there's a unit number,
you can enter that as well
If you would like to use more advanced search criteria you can go to the
advanced search screen by clicking the hyperlink at the top of the page
First, choose the assessment area using the pull down menu
or by typing in the area from the top right side of your assessment notice
You can also find the assessment area from a map by clicking the map button
or click the find area button and key the name of the town closest to where
your property is located
There are three ways to compare your assessment online
Option one
is to search by property address
the more address information you submit, the narrower your selection becomes
Try starting with the house number and street name
Option two searches by assessment roll number
Key the jurisdiction and the roll number that is printed at the top of your
assessment notice
Option three allows you to search by plan and lot number
This information is in the property description area of your assessment
notice
This selection is useful if your property is a strata complex bordering more than
one street address
At anytime, click one of the help buttons to get assistance filling out your
request
Once you've keyed in your property information
click compare by address to display properties on your street or in the same
plan
You can also click compare sold properties to display similar properties
that sold between
the first of January
and the thirty-first of October the previous year
In either case you will see assessed values as of July first the previous year,
sales information that occurred between January first and October thirty-first
and a brief description of the properties
You may request additional property details for up to eight properties per
search
Click the FAQs tab to see a list of the fields available
Select the properties by clicking the checkbox beside up to eight properties and
click the more info button
When you click more info, you'll be prompted to enter the characters as they
are shown in the graphic and audio option is also available
Once you have entered the characters and selected the submit button,
the property details screen will be displayed
You can access the more information result screen multiple times, but you
will be required to complete the authentication screen before viewing the
additional details
If you don't have a printer available
you can create a email from either the result screen or the property details
screen
You can also create a PDF file, an excel spreadsheet, or a printer friendly
document from the property details screen
Click export excel file and then save the file in your computer
When you open the file, click yes if you see a message warning you that the file
may be corrupted
Some columns may contain number signs instead of data
Adjust the column width to display the information
You can print the property details by clicking the printer-friendly button
There's a lot of information so set your printer to landscape print
We hope you find e-valueBC helpful and easy to use
