Hi, I'm Patti German and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist here in New York City.
In this clip we're going to talk about the difference between jealousy and envy. Of the
two, envy is a healthier emotion. When you envy someone, you see what they have, you
admire it and you want it for yourself. With jealousy, you don't want the other person
to have it, it becomes a very deep, meanish kind of feeling. Envy is healthy and envy
is good. It makes you strive for things, its wanting something, its working towards goals
to get it. Jealousy is not wanting the other person to have it and it makes you very angry
and very upset. If jealous feelings become very intense and very strong, they can lead
to a lot of destruction. So again, this is Patty German in New York City.
