Hi, I'm Tracey with Leader Motorcyle, a family-owned and biker-owned motorcycle accessories manufacturer,
and I'm going talk about mounting your phone on your motorcycle.
There are an awful lot of phones to choose from these days -- not to mention cases, covers
and so on to put those phones in. How do you know which motorcycle phone mount will work
best for you? That's what I'd like to address in this video.
First, you'll need to decide where you want to mount your phone. We have mounts for round
bars (which are probably the most common), for the brake or clutch on Harleys and Goldwings,
mounts that attach to windshields - even mounts that are specific to the Can-Am Spyder and
BMW.
Next, you'll need to 'pick your gripper' as we say. The eCaddy line of phone mounts encompasses
four distinct 'grippers,' and all of them are available for all the base mounting options
I just mentioned. Which one is best for you depends on your phone - and your priorities.
Here's an overview of the eCaddy Phone mount options:
• The eCaddy Tri-Grip is ideal for larger phones, or phones in rubber cases
• The eCaddy Diamond is specifically made for the Apple iPhones
• The eCaddy Deluxe Universal is the most flexible and works with phones both in cases
and alone • If waterproofing is important to you, you'll
want to check out the eCaddy Ultra with waterproof case
The Tri-Grip was designed with today's larger
phones in mind. The three-pong design holds your phone firmly. The rubber 'fangs' provide
excellent edge grip, and the no-slip pad gives you extra grip at the center. Simply place
the phone at the bottom edge first, ensure it is flat against the backing pad, then stretch
the 'arm' up and over the edge. When properly installed, you can see that this phone is
not going anywhere.
The Ultra-Swivel allows you to adjust up-and-down or left-and-right tilt, and you can also pick
any angle from zero to 360 degrees by adjusting where the Ultra-Swivel sits at the plate.
It also means you can use the phone either horizontally OR vertically.
The kit comes with a 'short' arm as well as this 'long' one, so it fits a variety of phones.
Check our web site for minimum and maximum size. What the Tri-Grip is not good for is
phone cases with curved or ridged back sides, or hard-sided or gel phone cases.
The eCaddy Diamond for iPhone is, in my opinion, the most aesthetically pleasing mount for
The eCaddy Deluxe Universal is just what it says -- universal. It will fit a whole lot
of phones (check out web site for recommended maximum size), and it will work on phones
with or without a case or cover on them. The Deluxe Universal cradle has a soft, no-slip
plate for better grip to your phone. The feet slide at the base to adjust for power or other
plugs or buttons. The side clamps are open for easier access to buttons, but close tightly
on your phone.
The phone can be mounted vertically or horizontally thanks to our faceted slot-and-lug design.
In addition, you can choose to add the UltraTilt, which gives you nearly unlimited angle-ability.
Is
protecting your phone from rain important to you? Then you'll want to look at the eCaddy
Ultra.
The waterproof case has a clear vinyl front that allows touch and slide operations common
to today's phones. Simply slide your device in and close the velcro flap. Wires can be
run out the edge if desired. I've used this setup on my bike for years and never had an
On the back of the waterproof case, you'll find a low-profile plate and the Ultra-Swivel,
which allows you to adjust up-and-down or left-and-right tilt. You can also pick any
angle from zero to 360 degrees by adjusting where the Ultra-Swivel sits at the plate.
It also means you can use the phone either horizontally OR vertically.
All the phone mounts I've discussed here today also have the UltraSecurity and Get the Vibe
Out features.
Our products are not cheap. We machine, polish, and chrome plate our mounts here in the USA.
It is important to us that we support the people that made America great -- and that
means paying them fairly, because they deserve it for the quality work they do.
To get a cheaper product, we'd have to move production to China (and many of our competitors
are doing just that). We've seen what happens then: quality issues. Crappy chrome. You know
what I mean.
We're a family owned business, and I'm a military veteran as well. A lot of bikers drive around
with american flags on their bikes and attend events honoring our military, but they buy
parts made in China because they are cheaper.
So yes, the eCaddy might be a little more expensive than others, but hey - you paid
a lot for the bike, why not spend a little more to do it right? And more to the point,
you'll still be using the eCaddy years from now (instead of just a season or two)!
