Hi I'm Kevin with Southern California transmissions in San Diego California and I just want to show you see things today about
what we're doing with your transmission once it comes out of your car
on this workbench year I have in Audi transmission came to us broken we took it out we took it as partially apart right now
you can see it's quite dirty in order to actually fix your car within a need to clean it up not just before we put together but we also need to clean
up so that we can examine it to see which parts are worn and damaged and we have a few systems and
help us with that one of them is a sink over here
which is a special kind of solvent that is water based rather than oil based or solvent day so
that it doesn't evaporate in the air when I really like about this particular system
as it allows it to distill the dirty cleaner in a machine so within 8 hours we can and clean solvent a cleaner parts with again additionally
when we take the dirt out that comes up from a very small tube down here and just a handful of dirt
which goes to a a special processor for waste materials
now that only works for the smaller parts which is again a guess where we need to go because transmissions can be sometimes 3 feet long so
we have this giant dishwasher machine here where we put the transmission parts that are too big and too dirty for us to clean my hand this
was just coming out of the machine it's a General Motors transmission
and it looks like the one that we should be first on the bench with how dirty it is. It comes up as we work hard to do that and we need everything
to be an absolutely antiseptically clean to put back together
when this comes out we actually dry it off with air because the lint from our towels if we tried to
drive with a towel would completely screwed up the transmissions operation
just from the residual lint that comes off if he's not a green part of this for us is that that's a very alkaline solution there and several gallons of it is
that no limits that there are steps will all those things are are very bad for the environment
so what we do is pump it out of there into this evaporator machine here and take the water out
of which leads us a very small amount of solids which again one of those licensed
waste companies will come and pick it up and dispose of it properly. It that makes it simpler when we give them something that's
smaller and less to deal with and if we gave them say 60 or 80 gallons that comes out of this machine
so that's something else to consider sometimes if it's import you which it is to us to be environmentally friendly and do the right thing
I'm Kevan at Southern California transmissions and thank you for your time.
