Hi, Marlee Ward from MarleeWard.com here,
talking to you today about
MLM.
So, I recently got an email from a wonderful reader of MarleeWard.com,
who wanted to know whether or not going into an MLM business
was a good way to start making money.
Now, this person was really honest and transparent with me,
and had explained to me that they had already been in business for a year,
and they haven’t seen any profits from what they were doing.
And so, I thought it would be a great question to answer
for a lot of people who are looking to pursue self employment
and think that getting involved in an MLM company might be the way to go.
Now, there are certainly great opportunities
through Multi Level Marketing companies.
If you’re not familiar with a Multi Level Marketing company,
what that is,
it’s a company that offers you the ability
to directly sell their products
and recruit other people to sell their products, as well.
And typically, the way that you make your income
is by recruiting other people
who will also recruit other people,
who will also recruit other people.
So, sometimes you here these things referred to as pyramid schemes
or network marketing,
but there are some very valuable and good opportunities in this industry.
But you have to really do your homework, and you have to choose wisely.
That said, MLM is a very, very difficult business to profit in.
And this is for two reasons:
1. Because of the way that it is organized.
MLM businesses really benefit people at the top of the system.
So really, the people that make the most money in MLM (wow, that’s a tongue twister to say that 10 times fast)
are the ones that have created the company
and the ones that have gotten in very early.
So, if you see a valuable product that’s being offered at an early network marketing company,
it might be a good opportunity for you to get in, because you’re getting in soon.
2. But the second and more critical issue that you face with a network marketing
or MLM company and business opportunity
is that your revenue, your ability to generate revenue
largely rests on your ability to recruit other people to do the same thing.
And motivating people is incredibly difficult.
If you haven’t experienced this in your life already,
you’ll come to find that you really can’t change people.
The only people or person who can change is the person themselves.
So, if they aren’t truly motivated
to turn that MLM business into their fulltime livelihood
and go out and recruit and motivate people in the same fashion that you are,
then you’re really facing an uphill battle.
So, for the most part,
succeeding at Multi Level Marketing and network marketing
is all about your numbers.
It’s about how many people you can get in contact with and how many people you can successfully recruit.
And then of course, all of that number of people,
how many you can actually motivate to do exactly what needs to be done
so that you can benefit and so that they can benefit.
So, there’s a lot of moving parts involved,
and I personally feel and believe
that it’s much more difficult to motivate people in an MLM business
than it is to start your own service-phased business as a solopreneur
and solve specific problems for specific people,
and build your business that way scaling your business overtime.
So, I hope that you found this information useful and helpful.
If you’re considering MLM and if you’re involved in MLM
