It has to be the freedom you had as a J-School student to go out and do the kind of stories
that you can't...you can't even imagine the kind of stories we did when I was in college.
We did stories on the basketball team and how they were marketing the team. We did stories
on university campus food. I mean, the kind of stories you don't do once you get out in
the real world, working for a newsroom or working for a broadcast station. So, I sort
of miss that freedom, if you will, as a student, to go out and experiment on stories like that.
Do a sports story one day, social services story the next, then maybe a university story
the next day. Just have fun with it, and really grow and learn, without the real spotlight
and the glare being on you, because we were all young and learning at the same time.
