Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart made a surprise cameo at Dave Chappelle's Aug. 17
Radio City Music Hall show.
Stewart took the time to address the violent white supremacist rally that occurred over
the weekend in Charlottesville and Trump's monstrous "both sides" response.
New York Times culture reporter Sopan Deb was able to relay back what was said.
Stewart began,
"Music and words and art is a power that can extinguish a Tiki torch.
Strange times, strange times.
I have to admit, I did not think—it wasn't so much that there were Nazis.
It was really the reaction by certain presidents.
And I got to tell you, the Nazis have lowered their physical fitness.
I remember from the movies I saw."
Stewart went in on Trump's reprehensible "both sides" comment following the death of Heather
Hayer in Charlottesville.
"There are two sides?
***!
Two sides!
I believe they are called the Allied powers and the Axis powers, and we used to be with
the Allied powers.
This *** signed a treaty that I don't think any of us know about.
We're some dumb *** sometimes.
Here's the real truth.
It's not a surprise in the United States of America that we elected Donald Trump president.
The truth is it's a surprise that we ever elected Barack Obama president of the United
States.
Because that is where we rose above our history.
Barack Obama was elected in America.
Barack Hussein Obama—a man with not one name that sounds natural to the American ear.
'Barack' sounds like the first word of every Jewish prayer."
Dave Chapelle's residency at New York's Radio City Music Hall has already seen appearances
from Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Erykah Badu, Chris Rock and more.
If you miss Jon Stewart, he's heading back to television with an HBO comedy special later
this year.
