Now we'll deal with things related to Passover like cleaning and so...
The residents of McDonald Street near the independence square in Netanya are mad at the Municipality.
Their street needs a major cleaning or an upgrade for many years...
However, each time the Municipality only does a small fix in a "patch by patch" method.
Our Correspondent Sigal shambiro with more details...
Ram Preiss Sitton The Chairman of the green party in Netanya addressed this week to the Mayor
Miriam fierberg Eicar with a demand to repair McDonald
Street as the broken sidewalk poses a danger to its residents.
Sitton says that the residents had asked for his assistance after an elderly
resident had tripped while walking in the street
and broke his leg.
In his letter to the mayor he explains that
the Street is only a walking distance from the central city hotels area
and therefore it is the showcase of the city.
"The street has been neglected for many years
and the recent renovations that have been done
are not a sufficient cure."
"The renovations are done in a "patch by patch" method
and the street's sidewalk looks like a Crosshatched"
Sitton adds: "in one part of the street the sidewalk is brand new,
And on the other part it is old and cracked"
In other parts of the street new sidewalk was paved only around the trees.
Ram Preiss Sitton:
McDonald Street has been neglected for a long time,
Each time the Municipality does only a tiny repair or puts an "Adhesive bandage""
"These things don't solve the real problem
they only treat the symptoms"
Its like using Aspirin to treat a broken leg"
I'd like to call upon the Mayor and to ask her to treat this issue once and for all,
And I don't aim for a superficial treatment like the one that has been done until now
I mean solving it once and for all!
"We should remember that the residents of the McDonald street are mostly old people,
There are many holocaust survivors living in the street.
We must keep in mind that
these people have been paying Property tax for their entire lives
And they do deserve a better street with a little better sidewalk.
The representative of the neighborhood's union Mr. Aviv Gerard
States that the mayor has met the union to discuss the issues
and yet there are many more problems to be solved.
Out of "patch by patch" that the mayor does,
I mean, "Patch by patch"
is where they've change only a part of the side walk where it was totally broken.
This is not the street's renovation that we expect.
There are upgrades that need to be done in that street,
i.e: sewer and electricity.
When people come back at night they have to walk in the middle of the road...
There are trashcans from "Leni" outside, opened, Swarming with cats and mice.
That's the street that we live in,
and this is while we the residents pay "Category A" property tax.
I don't think that it worth's it.
The Municipality in comment says :
"Mr. Sitton is breaking into an open door,
The Mayor has already ordered to include the McDonald Street
in the city's upgrading plan about a month ago"
