SOUND OF WIND BLOWS
So there is one nice thing about the Colorado Trail after taking a nice break and
having a sip of coffee is the port-a potty. These are every couple of miles so they
certainly do come in handy the first thing in the day.
SOUND OF RIVER RUSHING BY
Here we are at about mile six. For some reason I did not see the fifth mile sign but
we are at the damn as you can see. And it is one of the last spots for water for a
while. There is some run-off in the spring but once summertime comes you will not
have nearly as much water. So if you are running low on water this may be a good
time to grab
a little bit.
While we are not on the physical trail as yet we probably six and a half mile in and
are starting to walk uphill and as can see we have pine trees.
Well, here is our turn off, off the main kind of service road onto the actual Colorado
Trail. It does not look like much of a trail as yet but it will, hold on.
Wow, so here we are. We are actually somewhere where the trail becomes a trail. So
it about 10 more miles to the South Platt that basically ends Segment 1 at about 16.8
miles from beginning to end and it is a good place to get picked up at.
FRED says Morning, RIDER says Morning. So the bikers coming uphill you can
usually hear them coming. You can usually hear them breathing, before you can hear
them coming because it fairly steep going and they are in those granny gears but
coming down is a different story. Coming down they come down fast and that is part
of the mountain biking is the quick down hill, so F Y I keep your eyes and your ears
open for these guys, all right.
So along the trail of course there are Colorado Trail markers and they are splattered
about. Here is what they look like. They are usually stuck on trees or something like
that, fairly easy to find.
